Shopify integration

Connect your Shopify catalog to Fortegia and help shoppers find products through chat and recommendation frames embedded in your store theme.

Catalog access is read-only through read_products. The app does not modify products, orders, customers, or inventory. It writes its own app-data configuration metafields.

Shopify

Product catalog

Fortegia reads products and variants through the read_products scope to support product search, chat answers, and recommendations.

Chat bubble

The merchant enables the Chat bubble app embed in the Shopify theme editor. Shoppers can then ask about products without leaving the store.

Recommendation frames

Recommendation frame blocks can be added to selected locations in a compatible theme to present relevant products.

Access scope

Exact scope of the Shopify app

The app's catalog access is read-only and uses the read_products scope. The app does not modify products, orders, customers, or inventory. It writes only its own app-data metafields needed to configure the integration.

AreaDirectionWhat the app does
Authorization
Shopify → Fortegia

Installation through Shopify starts OAuth. The merchant then connects the store to an existing Fortegia workspace.

Products and variants
Shopify → Fortegia

Reads catalog fields including titles, descriptions, handles, vendors, tags, collections, statuses, URLs, images, variants, SKUs, barcodes, prices, options, and availability information returned with product records.

Catalog updates
Shopify → Fortegia

Product change notifications trigger catalog reconciliation. Additional periodic reconciliation reduces the risk of a missed change.

App configuration
Fortegia → app data

The app writes its own app-data metafields associated with the installation. They store app configuration, not product, order, customer, or inventory data.

Chat bubble
Fortegia → storefront

The merchant manually enables the Chat bubble app embed in a compatible Online Store theme. The app does not activate it automatically.

Recommendation frames
Fortegia → storefront

The merchant adds a Recommendation frame app block in the theme editor and chooses where it is displayed.

Out of scope
Out of scope

The app does not read orders or customer records, handle payments, fulfillment, shipping, or tracking, write products, or manage inventory. Writes are limited to its own app-data configuration metafields.

Access can be revoked by uninstalling the app in Shopify admin. The Privacy Policy explains how data is deleted.

Setup

How to enable Fortegia in Shopify

You start installation in Shopify. After approving read_products access, the app securely connects the store to the selected Fortegia workspace.

The initial import creates a working catalog copy for product search, chat, and recommendations. Product changes are detected through webhooks and periodic catalog reconciliation.

Finally, you enable the Chat bubble app embed and, if needed, add Recommendation frame blocks to selected pages in the theme editor. These storefront elements require a compatible Shopify Online Store theme.

Read-only catalog access

Fortegia stores a working copy of catalog data needed for product search, shopping chat, and recommendation frames. Shopify remains the source of product data.

The app does not require order, customer, or fulfillment scopes and does not modify products or inventory. Availability information read with a product record is used to provide relevant answers and recommendations. Its only Shopify writes are its own app-data metafields for app configuration.
